Jr. Chef Basics

Clark Gardens is excited to be partnering with Chef Magen in a Jr. Chef Basics Cooking Class. This class is best suited for children 13 to 17 years of age. Participants will be taking a hands on approach to learning a few culinary basics that will result in a delicious custom pasta salad.

Skills learned will include:

  • The differences in Pasta, how to choose
  • Properly cooking pasta
  • Knife skills: Chop, Dice, Mince, Chiffonade, Julienne
  • Making a vinaigrette

Chef Magen is the owner of Magpie Inn, a local and tourist favorite. She has over six years of hospitality experience and a background in culinary arts. As a 2022 Palo Pinto County Best Of The Best award winner, Chef Magen’s food always impresses. Magpie Inn prides itself on sourcing local products. Chef Magen harvests right from her community garden bringing you the freshest ingredients possible.

Those who haven’t met Megan will quickly find she is a ray of sunshine, always radiating a positive attitude.

Due to the setup of this class, parents/guardians will not be able to attend the class without registering to attend. Parents are welcome to check-in the registered participant at the admissions booth where the whole class will meet and walk to the cooking site together.

Of course, during the 60-minute class, parents are welcome to pay general admission and enjoy a stroll through Clark Gardens. All parents/guardians return to the admissions booth prior to 2:00pm for pick-up.
