Buffalo Soldier Weekend – Possum Kingdom
May 9 @ 8:00 pm – May 10 @ 8:00 pm

The Buffalo Soldiers were the first African-American regular Army unit. Texas Parks and Wildlife’s team of talented reenactors will be showcasing the gear, guns, and grit required to patrol the ranges of West Texas in the late 1800’s!
Songs of the Trail – Join our campfire and listen to the songs and stories of life on the trail in the 19th Century. Rangers will be telling stories from Possum Kingdom’s unique history and singing authentic trail songs from the 1800’s. Please bring your own chair or a blanket to sit on.
On the Trail – Join the Texas Buffalo Soldiers Out On the Trail at Possum Kingdom State Park. Learn about the historic Buffalo Soldiers and their role throughout Texas and the Western Frontier.
Listen to the stories about the Buffalo Soldiers from Pvt. Mack and Capt. Dolifka. You never know what artifacts will be on display or what type of activities the Buffalo Soldiers program will bring out.
They may not be back in this part of Texas for awhile so don’t miss this opportunity to travel through history with us.
Buffalo Soldier programming is free upon paid park entry.
