Whether you’re creating woven vine bird nest, observing the intricate dance of a butterfly, or simply enjoying the buzz of a hummingbird, being a Pollinator Pal offers endless opportunities to explore the fascinating world of pollinators while making a positive impact on the environment. No need to wing it alone; join local professionals and experience the flutter of discovery while having a blooming good time!

Pollinator Nature Book Walk & Activity

Group Gathers at: the Admissions Booth
Fee: Participating attendees must pay general admission fees.

Children and their parents will enjoy a nature book walk and end with making a seed ball to take home and plant. Join us and become a V.I.P.P (a Very Important Pollinator Pal)! This activity is ideal for children pre-k through 10 years old, but all ages are welcome.

During this walk lead by retired educator and Palo Pinto County Master Gardener, Kara Lynn Greenfield, you will learn about the importance of pollination, many of the different creatures who serve as pollinators in nature, and native plants that are important to pollinators.

Seed Ball Creating

Fee: Participating attendees must pay general admission fees.

It’s essential to think about all pollinators, both food sources and shelter, when considering your garden.

Come roll up your sleeves and get a little messy with the Clark Gardens team, as we create seed balls. All supplies are provided, and the seeds used are those recommended with pollinators in mind. All ages welcome.

Addison Insect Walk

Come and join us on an exciting insect walk through the lush garden! Explore the fascinating world of tiny creatures as we observe their intricate patterns and behaviors up close. Our knowledgeable guide, Addison Singleton, will lead the way, pointing out various species of insects and sharing interesting facts about their role in the ecosystem. This immersive experience is perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages who are keen to learn more about the incredible diversity of insect life around us. Get ready to be amazed by the beauty and complexity of these often overlooked creatures as we embark on this educational and fun-filled adventure together.

Addison Singleton has a Master of Science in Wildlife and Natural Resource Sciences and is working on her PhD in Animal and Natural Resource Sciences. Addison is currently the instructor for General Entomology at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX, and formerly taught Pollinator Ecology and Conservation. Her primary research focuses on plant-pollinator interactions in the context of anthropogenic disturbances, but she is also investigating plant-caterpillar relationships under drought and various other research projects looking at the presence of microplastics in arthropods, using novel techniques to sample for bumble bees in Texas, predicting bumble bee habitats in Texas, and floral reward changes under drought. Addison finds nothing more fulfilling than exploring the different species with whom we share the planet with, especially “the little things that run the world!”
