Tuesday Talks with Dr. Deborah Liles: The Plight of Texas Revolutionary Veterans
November 12 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Join us and Dr. Deborah Liles at the W.K. Gordon Museum & Research Center to hear more about the Texas Revolutionary Veterans and this neglected aspect of the Texas Revolution, some of the men and women people who applied, and what happened to the land.
Veterans of the Texas Revolution received payment in land for their services fighting to create a separate nation. By 1879, many had become destitute or had widows who needed assistance. In response to this, Texas officials created the solution of granting them more land, but applicants had to go through a difficult process to receive it.
